Question  life span by newbie

I read that SSD drives have a limited life span of 3-4 years is this true hence the kingston drive only comeswith a 3 year warranty?

Answer by gavin on Friday, October 8, 2010
They have limited write cycles yes. Once the drive can no longer be written to you can still read the data off it, so they don't 'fail' as such. In 4-5 years time this drive, like most current PC hardware, will most likely be obsolete anyway.

Question  is it worth it? by minime9990

is it worth running the OS on on of these as opposed to a normal HDD? (a very opinion based question i know, just getting feedbck =])

Answer by gavin on Thursday, September 30, 2010
It's not really an opinion based question. The cold hard facts are, that running your OS off an SSD such as this will give you a significant speed increase to boot up times, as well as application loading times.

Question  RAID? by Tom

Also is the firmware upgradable? Thanks.

Answer by gavin on Tuesday, September 14, 2010
It is. However Kingston are yet to release any updates.

Question  RAID? by Tom

Can you run 2 of these in RAID 0 or 1? Thanks.

Answer by gavin on Tuesday, September 14, 2010
You can use them in raid, but the RAID controller will block the TRIM command, degrading the array's performance over time.
