The Samsung SSD840 EVO is a high performance SSD designed for power users. Capable of delivering up to 98,000 IOPS Random Read Speed and 540MB/s Sequential Read speed, it is an SSD of unrivaled high performance. Even better, the advanced MEX controller delivers these speeds regardless of data type, unlike some competing controllers that greatly favor compressible data.

With upgrades to NAND, a new controller and firmware, the 840 EVO features the latest technology, while providing class leading responsiveness under everyday workloads, enhancing boot-up, application loading, and multi-tasking performance. Its 98K IOPS powers performance that is up to 10X faster than a regular HDD. And, Samsung's TurboWrite technology delivers dramatically faster sequential write performance. This 840 EVO has a storage capacity of 1 TB and comes with software for easy installation.

At only 7 millimeters thick and weighing just 2 ounces, the 840 EVO Series SSD features a sleek, lightweight design. The stunning brushed aluminum design emphasizes luxury and refinement, but is durable enough to protect your data from loss due to shock, dust and corrosion. Question  Question by Sean

Does this come with the 2.5 - 3.5 adaptor to fit into a 3.5 HDD slot in the case?

 Brilliant SSD by Arron

In comparison to other SSDs this 1TB SSD is simply the best both price performance wise in terms of value and performance with it's given capacity.

From running CrystalDiskMark benchmark I found that this SSD was slightly superior to my Samsung 840 256GB SSD and both SSDs had the lastest firmware updates.

I have brought two of these where internally one is used for storing games whereas I put the other SSD into a LaCie external HDD enclosure (with USB 3 and Thunderbolt ports and is powered when connected through either port) which was originally fitted with a Samsung M8 1TB HDD (2.5), Rev B (in stock configuration).

Both configurations have worked well with full stability from internal 1TB SSD when playing games (it's seperate to main SSD with OS installed on) and I have been getting maximum USB 3 speed (roughly 300MB/s on average) with the SSD in the LaCie enclosure. I have not personally seen average transfer speeds with Thunderbolt as my PC does not have Thunderbolt technology, but I know my external SSD does detect and functions normally with Macs with Thunderbolt ports.

All in all this SSD is good as both a main OS drive and also as storage where another SSD is being used for OS for particular purpose, and is worth it's price given it's an SSD with good performance.

A magnetic HDD would be better for overall storage though with all factors consider, especially if you get a HDD which has 3TB capacity or more.

1tb of pure ssd speed by Flabby

Let me start by saying I purchased this from aria pc the service was excellent and this was the cheapest website too.So the ssd for anyone that hasn't gone ssd I suggest it would be a good idea I had a 256 GB ssd samsung pro and thought would be good for just the o/s.6 months in I sold my 256 and a 1tb wd hard drive to pay for the 1tb ssd it's fast loads of room and migration software that samsung provide is excellent. Also the magician software is also amazing as there are so many things on there like maximising performance etc which is perfect for me for gaming.Ok it's an expensive outlay but it's worth it if you don't like hanging around.

Question  will this work by nse

will this plug n a work from the start in a P ENVY 17-j053ea 17 Laptop.

Sure will :-)

Well worth the money!! by TonyB

Bought one of these last week for my i7 music laptop as it's started to "drop out" when recording vocals with effects switched on.

All I can say is the performance difference is incredible using this brilliant SSD drive. It's gone from 100% utilisation to below 25% with everything switched on in Cubase. Windows 7 boot-up is now less than 10 seconds including all services, it's like having a new supercharged laptop.

I also have to praise the superb Samsung Magician and disk cloning software that comes with the drive which makes replacing your existing drive a simple, automated process.

If you're looking to seriously boost the speed of your system, buy one of these, you honestly won't regret it!!!
