Description:

NEW V2

One of the best PC performance investments you can make.
You'll be amazed at the improvement over traditional hard drive access times the first time you turn on your computer, and for virtually everything you do with your PC. System startup, application load times, data transfers, and even shutdown times are all faster.

Your system will be more responsive, and you'll be more productive. Add up all the time you spend all day waiting for your computer — starting up, loading game levels, saving large files and documents — and it can be significant. Using a PC can be a lot more enjoyable when it's not always making you wait.

Great for the latest high-performance PCs.
There's fast, and then there's fast. Force Series 3 SSDs have even quicker read and write times when they're installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface.

Compatible with SATA 2 3Gb/s.
Haven't yet moved to SATA 3? Like all Corsair components, Force Series 3 SSDs are designed to last through several system upgrades. Adding a Force Series 3 today means that you'll still get incredible storage performance now, and your SSD will be ready for your next upgrade.

Question  SATA 3 by RandolphCarter

Hi,

your description says this is "Compatible with SATA 2 3Gb/s", but the label on the drive in the image says "SATA 3".

Is this drive compatible with SATA 3 6Gb/s?

Thanks

Answer by andrewn on Tuesday, February 7, 2012
SATA III drives are fully backwards compatible with SATA II (3Gb/sec) motherboards etc, they just won't run at SATA III (6Gb/sec) speeds. This is a SATA III (6Gb/sec) drive but will work happily in SATA II or even SATA I systems, just at a reduced speed.

Question  SATA 1 by brayman

Hiya Is this backwards compatible with a Sata 1 mobo ?

Answer by andrewn on Monday, January 30, 2012
Technically yes, but you will not be making the most of the performance of a drive like this on a SATA-I motherboard, the peak read/write speeds will be considerably lower than those stated in the product description.

Question  V2? by Rocklett

Hi

I have the Force 3 120GB currently, I like to know the differences between the v1 & v2 but can't find any mention of a V2 on the Corsair web site could you point me to it please, or tell me the differences?

Answer by andrewn on Thursday, January 26, 2012
Probably just a different firmware version.

Just bought one of these with the components to build a new pc. I also bought a Mushkin SSD mounting bracket. Wish I hadn't bought the bracket tho'. The drive came with one ¦:¬{.
Amazingly quick drive. A great performance upgrade. Whoopee!

Do not buy if you are a MacBook user by xreyuk

A lot of people are having problems with these connecting to their MacBook and MacBook Pro at SATA I speeds only, even though the devices are SATA II/III capable. Corsair are not interested in fixing this problem, and their customer support was non-existent. I didn't even get replies to my support tickets after replying to them every 2 days for 2 weeks.

If you want an SSD for a MacBook or MacBook Pro, I'd recommend the OCZ range, as they have had the same issue, but provided a firmware fix for it.
