Comments, Questions & Reviews:
SATA II or III by JC
Could you please confirm which this is, as my mobo takes SATA ll's. Unless there's a converter available to mix format, as with ATA and SATA ll
This is SATA II, and will work fine As long as your motherboard has a SATA port, as this is backwards compatible with SATA I and will also work in a SATA III port (just not at SATA III speeds).
6GB/s or 3GB/s? by Jess
Hi,
Just wanted to know is it actually 6BG/s or 3GB/s interface? I saw a previous comment saying it was 3 and that you corrected it but I still see 6GB/s everywhere.
Thanks
3GB/sec, corrected again, apologies.
cables and second drive by shane
To add a bit more to a previous question about the power cable. i plan to use this as a second drive, does that mean i need another power cable for this hard drive and what kind of cable do i need to hook it up to my motherboard?
thanks
You will need to plug in a SATA power cable from your power supply, yes. You need a SATA cable such as quick code 41418 to connect this to your motherboard. If you still have your motherboard box, sometimes there are extras supplied with the board.
Jump in price by IsaacJDean
Hello, I just wanted to ask why the barracuda drives have all jumped up in price. Are they new revisions (7200.12)? Or were they all on a deal?
Thanks,
Isaac
The large-scale flooding going on in Thailand (where 25% of all global hard drive assembly takes place) has meant many manufacturers are struggling to meet demand as they deplete stock, pushing up prices.

Question by Joe
Do you need screws to install this, and if so does it come with them, and does it come with all power cables?
You will need screws, which won't be included with the hard drive as it's OEM (which essentially means 'just the drive'). However, motherboards normally come with a bag containing the right sort of screws. If you ordered via telesales you could probably ask that some be included with the drive if you're desperate. The power cables are attached to the power supply, you never get power cables with hard drives. You will also need a SATA cable to connect this to the motherboard; again, this should have been provided with the motherboard.
