Performance targeted for the enterprise

The Ultrastar A7K1000 features a 3 Gb/s SATA interface supporting key features in the Serial-ATA specification including Native Command Queuing (NCQ), staggered spin-up and hot-swap capability. The Ultrastar A7K1000 allows for configuration scalability and with the same physical connector as Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives, it’s ideal for use in mixed-drive environments.

In multi-drive environments, rotational vibration, which results from the vibration of neighboring drives in a system, can degrade hard drive performance. To aid in maintaining high performance, the Ultrastar A7K1000 incorporates enhanced Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) technology providing up to 50% improvement over the previous generation against performance degradation, leading the industry.

Finally, the Ultrastar A7K1000 is targeted at 1.2 million hours MTBF

Does a Clean pull drive still come with a normal warranty ?

Not with Hitachi but they are supported with a 1 year warranty from us

Cheap and Cheerful - bit loud by tom

A very cheap HDD which is performing pretty well so far. My only issue is it's quite noisy.

When it's constantly writing/reading the disk, for example during an install or virus scan, it can get quite irritating. Especially if you haven't got any other sound/music to cover it.

I'll probably pay a little more next time for a little less noise

Question  Sas or Sata connected. Which is it? by Strider

Is this device sata or sas connected? Your description is confusing as a Sata connected device can be connected to a Sas controller but a Sas connected device cannot be connected to a Sata controller (come motherboard). Though this hdd can be technically described as a serially attached device it cannot have two tags, ie, SATA and SAS. After all, SATA is one Standard and SAS is another. It would clarify the waters for you to describe this device as one or the other but not both. Do you concur?

These are SATA drives. I think the description Hitachi provided is just to let SAS users know that this SATA device will fit
