Description:There is a major emphasis in the modern market for technology that is compliant with energy-efficient standards. The world is becoming a greener place, and luckily many companies are answering the call to design a large number of products that can cut down on the amount of electricity you use. It doesn't have to compromise style, though, as this Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB 3.5 SATA internal hard drive clearly proves.
Weighing a measly 622g, the Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA offers a data transfer rate of 600MB and a buffer size of 64MB. With a whopping 2TB to play with, the owner of this fantastic piece of kit will never fill it, even with a concerted effort, unless they are an extremely serious gamer or film fan that will never delete a single thing they install, transfer or download.
The drive's unique 5900rpm speed delivers the fastest performance from an eco-friendly drive available on the market today, while Seagate's patented SmartAlign technology lets you get all the benefits of the new Advanced Format 4K sector standard without any hassle; you'll need neither utilities nor extra steps.
Ultimately, Seagate has claimed that its "low power consumption combined with leadership in the use of recycled materials means you don't have to sacrifice environmental stewardship for performance", while the cool and quiet operation of the drive means you will not have to worry about heavy cooling to keep it going.
Please Note: This is an OEM drive therefore no cables, screws or software are included.

Question by jez576
how do you find out if the hard drive is 2.5 or 3.5 sata
it is the size of the drive. 2.5" drives tend to fit in Laptops. 3.5" in desktops. This drive is 3.5"
Warranty by bob

This is 1 year.
Thanks for your question.

Could i use this drive in 2010 iMac
As long as it is a 3.5" SATA hard drive then it should be fine, however I cannot fully guarantee it.
Video Editing by Brighty
Teejay, I dont think the spindle speed affects the speed at which video editing software write to the drive, to be honest its all CPU and Ram Speed which affects the speed. The write speed of the hard drive will more than likely over compensate the rendering speed so a eco drive should be fine; if you worried about speed go for 2x of the drives are stripe raid them. I've used a Stripe raid and a normal hard drive; no difference what so ever.
drive speeds by TEEJAY
I am looking to purchase the fastest SATA drive for video editing. Some hard drives run at 7200 rpm but this drive runs much slower. Am I better off with a drive which runs fastrer or does the run speed not matter?
If you really want the fastest, you want to look at SSDs. However if you need a lot of storage then budget will likely mean you need to look at HDDs instead. This, being a 'green/eco' drive is not really aimed at the performance market, so it's not going to be fast as hard-drives go (though it is hard for me to say whether this will have much impact on video editing applications).
Here's an overview of your options:
SSD: The best speed, low capacity for the cost - quick code 44258.
'Performance' HDD: much slower than SSDs, but fast for a mechanical drive - quick code 45431.
'Eco' HDD: inexpensive to buy and run, but lower performance than the faster 7200RPM drives.
