Boot Issue by MPD

Further to an earlier question. There are issues if you use the SSD to boot. People are getting the BSOD and system hangs. Also the BIOS does not see the drive when you re-boot so there can be a lengthy procedure to get it to see the SSD drive again. I know as it has happened to me (and is still) and there are dozens in the same boat on the OCZ forum.

Coincidentally, I have a very similar motherboard to the earlier questioner, an Asus P8Z68.

Question  Boot Problems by Boot Problems

On first installation this drive seems great but as soon as 15 minutes of idle, power saving options or sleep mode is activated the system will hang and the BIOS will refuse to see the drive. There is much discussion on this on OCZtechnology.com web site and forum.

Before I came across this web site I had many hours of fun re-installing Windows 7, unplugging my other drives, reconfiguring the BIOS boot, resetting the motherboard CMOS, switching off the computer (solution seems to be to switch the computer off at the mains for 15+minutes then switch back on go into BIOS, rset Boot to see OCZ Solid and then it will re-start - until the next time).

OCZ have been using geeks to help them debug this problem. Upgrading to the latest firmware helps some but not me.

So onto the question. Aria, do you know of a fix? If not can I get a refund and swap to a manufacturer that actually works?

If there isnt a solution then I'll be writing a very negative review next.

Do all SSDs have similar issues?

Many many SSDs have varying degrees of success with different systems - it is one of the two primary issues preventing SSDs from taking over completely (the other being price) and tends to be as much down to manufacturer support and firmware as it is individual hardware configuration.

Unfortunatly, I can help you here - you need to contact our Customer Service team on [email protected] or 0844 9998999 who should be able to assist you with this matter.

Question  compatibility by kamran

hi
i have hp envy 15 1060ea .can u plz tell me if this product works with my laptop.if yes what speed thanks

Answer by stewartz on Monday, September 12, 2011
As long as your laptop has a SATA data connection then this should be fine. Speeds will vary on what data you are transferring.

Question  Requirements by Vultima

Hi I am looking into buying this SSD, however I have a few questions

1. My Mobo is only capable of 3GB/s and this states 6GB/s, is there any capability issues, if not, what other issues are there, how would this effect the read and write capabilities of it?

2. Does this come with some sort of bracket so it can fit into a 3.5" bay?

Answer by stewartz on Wednesday, September 7, 2011
This SATA III (6Gb/s) will work fine in a SATA II port as they are made backwards compatible.
As for the bracket, this does not come with one, you will need Qc: 44222.
