I have been using this CPU for some time and I have never felt the need to overclock this beauty. Running 4.7ghz 8core straight out of the box is simply brilliant, Yes this does need an aggressive cooling solution like corsair h100i or above and yes it does mount up on cost but to a true pc enthusiast or gamer the price shouldn't be an issue at all.... As in the words of Tim the Toolman Taylor MORRREEE POWERRRR.

Question  Question by derf

will this run on a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P mobo plus a gtx 970 gpu?

Answer by shaund on Wednesday, April 29, 2015
The motherboard is not compatible, for this CPU it would be best to get a 990fx chipset motherboard as well as a very good aftermarket cooler.

Question  Question by Dooky1973

I have currently use a Corsair H75 Water cooling kit on my FX-8350 (overclocked to 4.6Ghz). Will the H75 be powerful enough to cool this chip, especially if I want to overclock it?

Answer by samuelm on Saturday, February 21, 2015
These chips run warmer than average, the H75 may not be enough to cool it if you wish to overclock. I would be looking at the H100.

Question  Motherboard & cooling compatability by Gavin 2712

Hi would this work with the Asus Crosshair V formula z mobo and would it be able to utilise the processor full potential?

Also would the NZXt Kraken x61 all in one liquid cooling be adequate?

Answer by samuelm on Monday, January 26, 2015
It is indeed compatible in relation to socket, unfortunately the board you have mentioned will not support the power requirements of the chip.
