Sata III HD\\'s & and what an IMMENSE board by thetrashcanman

ok just wanted to clear something up, as fail said Ali M should not have expected such speeds from a NORMAL HARD DRIVE! Even if it does state its sata 3, normal hard drives don't even exceed sata II 3Gb/s let alone sata III, also most hard drives actually drop off in performance if they are plugged in to sata III ports, saying a normal hard drive is sata III is marketing ho har. The only way you will experience sata III speeds is with a good ssd, and from the reviews I've read the rampage's sata III ports are very good, achieving speeds of 350mb/s reads on a crucial c300.

Now the board, I'm purchasing one of these very soon, although I currently have a very good x58 board a asus sabertooth, but this board gives me all the features I need and a whole lot more, for example the switches which switch of the pcie lanes are fantastic coming from someone who runs a full water cooling loop, its a brilliant feature to have, as taking a dead card out to find out which one it is Is a major pain in the a**e. then the pro belt strip to measure your voltages with a voltage meter, the on/off and reset switches on the board, and the dual bios, I'm sure anyone looking at this board or reading this would know all these, but these are just excellent features, and some of the things I will not ever want to do without again on a motherboard, oh and the Looks, OH MY GAWDD, its a thing of superbly engineered perfection.

Question  GDDR5? by Gavin

Can this motherboard support GDDR5 graphics cards (like this one: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/Nvidia+GTX+500+Series/Nvidia+GTX+580+Series/Asus+Geforce+GTX+580+DirectCU+II+1536MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=43790 )? If not, can you point me in the direction of one that can?

Answer by andrewn on Monday, February 21, 2011
That should work fine with this motherboard. Whether or not a card is GDDR5 doesn't really matter to the motherboard, that's all managed by the card itself. The card you mention should work in any board with a PCI-E 2.X x16 slot.
