Question  Right PSU? by cheatindave

I bought a 700w psu with these power connectors

1 x 20 & 24-pin Main Connector
1 x 4-pin+12V Power Connector

Would this work with this motherboard as it shows 8-pin?

Also wondering if 700w PSU would be enough to run this motherboard with an 1GB ATi 5670, with 8GB ram and AMD Athlon II x4 3.1ghz

Answer by andrewn on Thursday, March 31, 2011
700W PSU should be fine, assuming it's a reasonable brand. Even if it's generic, and not actually providing the stated wattage (this happens) those parts shouldn't require even 500W, let alone 700, so you should be OK.

The board should work with your single 4-pin power connector plugged into just one side of the 8-pin connector if you are not planning on heavy overclocking etc. The 8 pin ('dual 4 pin') motherboard connectors are there to supply extra power if needed for relatively extreme setups.

Question  Can you recommend a PSU? by Stevie G

I am looking for a suitable PSU for this motherboard. I understand that I need one with a 24 pin and 8 pin connector. Can you please recommend a reasonably priced one.

Many Thanks

Anything that is ATX 2.0 or higher will work fine.
