Description:Samsung's F4 EcoGreen is the first drive available to feature 667GB per platter. Samsung’s F4 Series EcoGreen Drive (F4EG) is the ideal high capacity drive for green computing environments. The new eco-friendly hard drive, F4EG is designed to meet demand for high performance devices with lower power consumption. Samsung’s EcoGreen F4 makes it possible to design storage systems with the right balance of high capacity, fast performance and energy conservation. Samsung F4EG has the world’s best areal density at 5400RPM rotation speeds. High density means more bits pass under the head faster, and it improves the drive performance. Samsung employs an advanced data recording technology, which brings the next generation technology into today’s single disk platform, enabling Samsung’s new 5400RPM drives to perform at current 7200RPM drive speeds. The internal SysMark test results confirms that F4EG performs as same as 7200RPM drive speeds, and even 10% faster than other green drives.

Recommend a USB Caddy please by Richard
I have seen one recommendation here, but it's no longer available. I have tried one USB caddy which sadly didn't work.
Please recommend one, why are the prices so different too?
i believe most caddies donot support 2tb drives , unfortunately we currently donot have 1 that supports 2tb drives but we may do so later
They work with a Netgear Stora by Richard

Great by John M
This is a great hard drive, loads of storage space...When I bought it it was much cheaper though, no now is not the best time to buy hard drives I think...Unfortunately.
Anyway, the drive runs very cool and I have hod no problems with it at all.
No need to update firmware by Steve E
Got 2 of these today (14/12/11) and they were built 9/11 so no need for firmware update, also has a B after the model number so I'm guessing that also means no need for an update, got them running raid 0 just for storage, and the intel raid will even let me boot from an array over 3gb if I wanted, pity about the price, but then most drives are silly money at the moment, and the 256gb ssd I bought cost more than these put together, still wondering why I spent all that on a drive
Warranty by conleung
I bought the HD203WI which I believe is the model before this one from Aria. You can check the serials with Samsung for warranty info and that drive shows it as out of service area which I reckon is because its a grey import. However I bought a 1tb Samsung drive (HD103SJ) from Aria and that serial comes up as a full 3 year warranty from Samsung UK. Hit and Miss?
