Question  Replacement Hard drive for Dell optiplex GX260 by Glyn M

Will this be suitable with existing connections for a Dell Optiplex GX260.
Present hardrive is Western digital WD400 Caviar 40GB.

Thanks GM

That system seems to have a motherboard which only accepts old IDE hard disks, whereas this is a SATA hard drive (IDE Drives are getting pretty hard to find new nowadays). Although we do sometimes get IDE hard drives in stock, I don't believe we have any at the present time, I'm afraid.

Question  SATA compatibiity by Seagate HDD ST3500413AS

Is an ST3500413AS a suitable replacement for an ST3500418AS?

Answer by PeterW on Sunday, May 15, 2011
yes, this is the new SATA 3 version from seagate which is the direct replacement but it will still work with SATA 2.

Question  DELL compatibility by Woulfie

I'm not sure if I have a SATA II or SATA III port, but I have a small plug flat and larger flat one. If that looks familiar I think I'll be OK.

Answer by andrewn on Monday, May 9, 2011
This would work with either anyway. You'll be OK :)
