Hello I have this hardrive in my gaming computer and so far has done the job but i am looking to upgrade to a solid state to improve perfomance. I was wondering what are the read and write times on this hardrive and if upgrading to an SSD would make much of a diiference bearing in mind i will be putting the operationg system on the SSD and leaving the HDD for general use such as storing music and documents
SSD is the future, go for it.
Boot up from pressing the button to windows in about 20 sec or less when trimed.
Question by Steven
Will this work with my MacBook Pro 15" (Mid 2009)?
No, you will need a 2.5" (laptop-sized) drive for your macbook or any laptop, this is for desktop PCs.
Question by LouW
Is this hdd ok for running games off with it being a 5400rpm drive. For instance would I see a decrease in FPS or will the game just take longer to load
I would recommend going for a HHD which runs at 7200rpm such as this 1: 44143
Use in RAID1 ( Mirror) by Use in RAID 1
I have seen in the compatibility lists from QNAP that this drive is not recommended by WD for use in Mirror RAID setups. This list might be out of date, but I wanted to check with you if this is still the case?
The manufacturer would know better than us, really. You could try asking on our forums at http://forums.aria.co.uk if anyone has any specific experience with that combination.
Sky+ HD by TheLatics
Do you have any experience of people buying this drive (or other 1TB drives) for upgrading their Sky+HD Samsung Boxes.
I've seen this drive (or one very similar) mentioned as a possible solution, but would like to know if you know it is appropriate for the Samsung Sky box.
You would have to check with the manufacturer I have no clue I am afraid.
