It would be around that size yes, it may be slightly more or less though depending on your OS and formatting.

Probably the caviar black, qc 40242, which is 7200RPM. SATAIII / G6bps is slightly pointless for mechanical hard drives though, since none of them can maintain sequential transfer rates close to 3.0 GBps (Sata II) speeds. If you want high speeds, SSDs are the way to go.

On the main description it ays that this drive has a 32mb cache, but in the technical details it says it only has an 8mb buffer. I always thought that buffer and cache were essentially the same thing? Could you clarify this for me please?
Updated, the 32MB figure is correct. Technically a buffer and a cache are actually different, but the terms are generally used interchangeably.
