Question  Overclocking/Fitment by Tam

Will this be an acceptable upgrade from the AMD stock cooler (far to loud) on my 1090T X6 on an AM3 board.
Will it keep the processor cool enough if I want to overclock from stock 3.2Ghz to 4.0Ghz/4.2GHz.
Will it fit in a Zigmatek Asgard I case.

Thank you.

yes that should be fine

Question  Do you need to remove the motherboard to fit this? by nburcombe

If you are using it with an AMD set up? (ga-880gm-u2dh/1100t)
Thanks in advance

As far as I am aware, you will need to place a backplate behind the motherboard.

Question  Vs Artic Cooling by Jack

Is this better or worse the Artic Cooling Pro Rev 2?

And does it matter for this one if I'm using Artic Silver thermal paste and the remover one by Artic Silver? I assume not.

Answer by daniele on Wednesday, August 17, 2011
According to a review by Tom's Hardware, the Hyper 212 Plus just slightly beats out the Freezer 7 Pro R2 in testing: http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/upload/product/2923/feature2.jpg (Review here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lga-1156-heatsink,2535-15.html).

The Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste you mention is not made by the same company as the cooler. The paste is made by Arctic Silver, the HSF is made by Arctic Cooling. Similar but not the same. And no, you do not have to use Arctic Silver 5 as your thermal paste of choice but it is widely regarded as the best thermal paste around and offers the best thermal conductivity.

Question  Question by billyjiahaogao

Could you confirm this will fit in a Fractal Design R3 case?

Looking at a Asus p8Z68 Motherboard as well, which has heatsinks around the CPU, do you know if there are any issues with that?

Thanks,

Answer by daniele on Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Yes it will fit in that case and the surrounding heatsinks should not cause any issue
