The company was established in Manchester in 1993 by the current managing director Aria Taheri. After completing his studies at the University of Bath in 1991 he was awarded an engineering degree with honors in Electronics and then spent some time in the electronics industry before attending the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST) to complete his studies where he gained his MSC.

Based upon the experience that Aria had gained in the electronics and computer world, he established Aria Technology Limited with view to making computer products and services more accessible for individuals and businesses by ensuring quality products were sourced and distributed to the marketplace at affordable prices.

Aria recently featured on the popular Channel 4 reality showThe Secret Millionaire, during which he went undercover in Sparbrook in Birmingham, spent time volunteering with several charitable organisations, and eventually revealed his identity, surprising several of the charities concerned with donations. Trading successfully for 17 years, Aria Technology has now established a position as a leader within the market place with a turnover for the coming year forecast to reach £20m. The company has over 35 employees with a vast array of knowledge and expertise within the Information Technology sector. As the business continues to develop, the team is constantly being strengthened through in-house training and product knowledge updates in line with the launch of new technology. Web Application Developer Thursday, Feb 28. 2013

Essential Characteristics

  • A Results-driven attitude

Key skills:

  • OO PHP5 Programming
  • SQL knowledge and experience (either MySQL or MS-SQL)
  • HTML/CSS
  • jQuery or similar javascript framework
  • Experience with an MVC web framework such as CodeIgniter (ideally) or similar (Zend, Yii etc)
Desirable

  • Exposure to / basic knowledge of linux/unix-based operating systems

Key duties at the Warehouse include

• Picking and packing customer’s orders
• Replenishment of goods
• Booking in goods
• Logging of Studio 1 items
• Ensuring all items go to the correct location

Key duties at the Counter include:

• Selling products and services to potential customers in an effective way
• To provide potential and existing customers with the highest level of service
• To deal with enquiries from customers in a courteous, professional and knowledgeable way, effectively communicate the products and services offered by the company
• To correctly process sales for customers using the in store payment points, quoting correct pricing, delivery date and stock requirements.
• Be able to work with minimal supervision and hold a deep knowledge of computers, peripherals and systems
• To look after your customers including any problems that they have up to the point that they receive their goods. You should aim to build long term relationships with your customers. You are ultimately responsible for your customers who pick their goods up at the sales counter

Key duties at the System Build include:

• Building systems of the Arianet and Gladiator range
• Building bespoke / custom build systems • Testing of computer systems
• Ensure all systems meet the required quality standards

Key duties at Technical/Returns include:

• Checking the quality of monitors and televisions
• Ensuring Pixel Checks are completed to a high standard
• Testing, diagnosing and repairing refurbished computers for resale
• Process RMAs correctly
• Test, troubleshoot and diagnose items to component level
• Deal with enquiries from customers in a courteous, professional and knowledgeable way
• Communicate products and services the company offers to customers

In addition:

• Update productivity portal on regular bases throughout the day
• To follow all processes to ensure accuracy and traceability.
• Ensure all paperwork and data is kept up to date and filed correctly
• To aid your department and other departments so that all areas of the business are up to date with their work and that all productivity targets are met.
• Keep your product knowledge as well as the knowledge about the market and our competitors up to date
• Be fully aware of all company policies and procedures
• Assist with ad-hoc duties where required by the needs of the business
• Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations at all times
