Address Verification Scheme (AVS)

The Address Verification was introduced by banks in 2001 as a way of providing additional security for Card Holder Not Present purchases - e.g. Mail order or buying goods off the internet.

We have added this feature to our payments system for two very good reasons.

  • Firstly, as mentioned before it makes an online purchase more secure, since its unlikely that the fraudster would get access to both your card and Billing address.
  • Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, from the number of requests we've had! It will enable us to deliver your orders to an address other than your registered billing address!

Card Verification Number Scheme (CV2)

The Card Verification Number Scheme (CV2 or CVS) was also introduced in 2001 as a further layer of security to Card Holder Not Present purchases. Basically the CVS/CV2 number is the 3/4 digit number located on the back of your credit/debit card signature strip.

As you can see in the image to the right, the CVS/CV2 number is the 3/4 digit number inside the red circle. You will always have to enter this number for an online purchase, even if you have saved your card details on our server. (The CVS/CV2 number is never saved, only checked with your bank at purchase time.)

EbitGuard

Retail Decisions (ReD) is a provider of automated card not present risk management services. The ebitGuard service from ReD is designed to help control the growing number of fraudulent and disputed transactions being experienced by companies who operate in Card Not Present (CNP) environments. What does this mean for you? Well it means that as we have a reduction in fraud and related costs we can pass on these savings to you our customers in the form of even cheaper components and systems.

Delivery Addresses

Yes its true! In case you didn't catch it in the previous paragraphs it is now possible to have your order delivered to an address other than your card billing address! So now you can order those bits that you wanted and have them safely delivered to your work or university - wherever makes you happy!
