 Fast and Quiet by raystation

Bought this HDD after reading a few good web reviews about it.

Installation: only has SATA power connector - NO MOLEX

Speed Test: HDTach: 82MB/sec sustained read
100MB/sec burst read Hard Disk Sentinel: reports 100% health
I would buy another!

Please explain this:

MAX.500 GB Formatted Capacity Per Disk

Does this drive have several platters? Can I format to have one drive with the whole 1.5tb space available (less of course the formatting loss) or do I have to format as 3 drives?

Am I also correct in thinking that formatting costs about 15% of a Drive?

This HDD uses 3 platters that have a maximum capacity of 500GB each, and can be paritioned to use use whole drive capacity or paritioned in any way you see fit.
