Question  Which Series? by Phil

Hello,

Please can you let me know which series this CPU is? I'm looking at motherboards but they refer to AMD series' they work with, not the model.
I'm guessing it's something like 790GX...?

Thank you.

Answer by jonathana on Monday, September 15, 2014
As long as your mobo supports the socket type (AM3+) you should be fine. If you are worried about compatibility issues you can go on Parts Picker or Toms Hardware (they both have compatibility Tables).

Question  Cooler by Cooler

Does this CPU come with a cooler?
Thanks in advance.

Question  Will it work with this motherboard ? by ADT15299

The motherboard is a http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/AMD+Socket/Socket+AM3%2B+Piledriver+FX/Gigabyte+GA-970A-UD3P+AMD+Socket+AM3%2B+Motherboard+?productId=57967

That should work as both have AM3+ socket types, however you should do a bios update/flash for your board.

Question  Whats the real choice? by Jackson7715

Hi there, im looking to upgrade my current system but am acquiring parts bit by bit till I have the new build. I currently have an AMD Phenom II 955 BE. Been looking at this current processor AMD (Piledriver) FX-8350 4.00GHz (4.20GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 8-Core Processor - Retail.

Or considering the Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor.

The AMD has cores tho, so which is the better choice here, what is the best all round cpu, I do play games such as EVE online, WoW etc. And general other pc tasks.

Advice please.

Answer by jonathana on Monday, August 18, 2014
I can't tell you what is better! AMD or Intel! However if you change to Intel you will need a new motherboard. Personally I prefer Intel, that's just my choice though!
