I desperately needed more storage, my 1TB was painfully full, my first time with a drive of this size, so was a little thrown at the start, you need to have a board\\system capable of handling such a size, but my best guess is any new board should be able to cope, although there's probably a few exceptions, so definitely check it out for peace of mind when ordering, I certainly don't understand all they say about these large drives, but the key points appear to be if you want it as a bootable drive, as there are strict requirement's there the way I read it, you can see if there is a BIOS update that would enable the features required to manage it all.

Or you can use DiscWizard to manage the drive, but when installing you need to set it as a GPT drive\\partition, or it wont see the full size, my drive shows as 2.72TB usable size, as the system takes some of the drive I believe for maintenance\\usage, xp or older will definitely not see the whole drive from what I can see, but it does exactly whats needed, only suggestion I have is to scan the drive health (use the makers utility to scan) once installed, BEFORE putting data on it, I have had 2 of these to date, and one was faulty on arrival, so given the amount of data involved, it's not a bad idea to make sure there are no problems before you start to use it, otherwise it's all good.
