Hello
i recently bought this harddrive and installed windows 7 and it worked with a few problems, for some reason it wouldnt let me patition it on the initial setup but i wasnt too botherd about partitioning it anyway. I was on windows 7 for about 2 mins and before i even had the chance to install all my drivers i got a blue screen and now my computer (built yesterday) wont read the harddrive. I belive i got a years warrenty free with this product and if so how do i get a new one or my money back?

Question by Michael
Hi,Would this drive work on my gigabyte GA-8PE667 ULTRA 2 MOBO,
KIND REGARDS
No, as the GA-8PE667 ULTRA 2 doesn't have SATA ports.
works fine with older mobos by vaidas

You probably need to initialise, partition & format the drive. This can be done in Disk Management; Right click on the My Computer icon and select 'Manage' -> Disk Management -> Where it says 'Not Initialized', right click and select 'Initialize' -> Then right click on the drive size to the right, and select 'Create Partition', and follow the wizard"
thanks steven :) my own little mistake never thought on doing that for some reason. it works fine i see it in windows all 1tb.
ill comment later of a performance. seems like no need a jumper settings, works fine atm. the funny thing that non manuals are same only 4 pins instead of 8(all manuals showed 8).
so far so good,
thank you aria now im a happy man.
Always happy to help :)
not for older mobos by vaidas
so... after 11hours of continious try to get this hdd to work on my hp xw6200 workstation i failed. all i could get is to see it in bios but windows xp sp2 never detect it, but if i would go to device manager i can see it its there it shows samsung HD103UJ under disk drives, i check on properties it says device is working fine, but either i try instaling a program, or formating, or defrag, or clean hdd it never comes up. ive done loads of reasearch online and saw that meny people who use older mobos that are using sata I 1.5gbs connector windows not detecting this hdd in particular the rest who used newer mobos seemed to be happy of this hdd so seems like its useles for me to keep upgrading this useles xw6200 although works great just with little limitations.
dunno what to do now with this hdd as atm i cant use it so seems like its gonna have to wait for a new pc, christmas is coming :).
end line: dont buy if you use older mobo that is using sata I 1.5gbs connectors

While I cannot guarantee compatibility, this HDD should be fine in your HP XW6200.
