OEM? by Anthony
Just wondering what the difference between the retail and OEM is? Does it have anything to do with how many times you can do clean installs? For example if I installed this on my pc, then 6 months down the line wanted a clean install for whatever reason, would I be able to use the same CD key as I did before? Thank you in advance for any advice.
You can do as many clean installs as you want. However with an OEM you cannot change the motherboard and support from Microsoft is limited.
32 or 64 bit? by Paul PC
Isnt the main difference between 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems down to the fact your processor would need to be capable of running 64 bits???????? not just the amount of memory it supports??????
yes your processor needs to support 64bits , most processors are 64bit capable most p4s and athlon64s and all processors that came after those processors support 64bits
Disk Included by Blackadder007
Hi,
Can I just confirm that you do get the media disk with this and not just a licenece card
Yes you get the disk as well as the licence.
OEM terms? by Gaz
What are the OEM requirements? I see a mention of having to buy hardware as well, but according to another retailer, that is NOT part of the licemnce! So who is right?? If hardware is required, would a DVD drive count? Couldn't install it without one!
Will the software be tied to the first PC I install it to, or could it be transferred when the first one is replaced??
( yes, I know I cannot use it on more than one at the same time)
You can buy it without hardware. It's tied to the first PC you install it to. You can't transfer an OEM license.
What hardware is acceptable for OEM license? by Paul
What hardware would I need to purchase with this OEM product to satisfy Microsoft's OEM licensing? I realise it can be bought stand-alone but I need this to be legit for a customer.
Can it only be sold with a new PC or can it be sold with non-peripheral hardware (such as a hard disk or RAM)?
Thanks
I believe it is any hardware that is necessary for getting the system working, so a hard drive or ram would be fine.
