Question  IDE to SATA ? by Andrew A

This question relates to the Seagate 500GB drive currently on offer really. I thought that a sata drive must go with a sata motherboard and wondered if there was an adaptor for boards with IDE connections, (like my ASRock K7S8X).
However, THIS cable is for laptops and arn't all laptops SerialATA ???

Hi, not all laptops are SATA but the converter you are refering is available here:http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Peripherals/Connectors/IDE+SATA+ADAPTER+?productId=37690

Fujitsu by Roy

I have a very old Fujitsu MHK2060AT 2.5 laptop hard disk which I want to connect to my PC IDE to enable me to get the data off of it. It has a single row of 22 pins so I think the normal IDE converter cable will not work. Can you tell me what cable I need to purchase? Many thanks

Response by paulc
You could buy an external caddy and then use the old laptop hard disk as a small external USB drive

Comment by Brian

Will this piece of kit allow me to attach a second hard drive directly to my laptop? Allowing me to have a second (external) disk attached to my laptop (The extra disk being an addition to a docking station).

Response by Chris R
No, you want one of these... http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Name=2.5+aria just takes a laptop hard disk - instnat USB Backup :) This thing lets you connect a laptop HD to a normal PC.

I have a Dell inspiron 4000 40GB HD with has a single ribbon bar connector rather than pins. What converter do I need, if this one does not fit.
