Review of 7" Vye Netbook by Stusullivan
This is a great portable netbook with DVD drive. You can't call it a mini laptop as it's processing power is lacking. I have upgraded to 2Gb of RAM (Having to buy a 2Gb stick as this only has one RAM slot) but Vista is still slow, freezes frequently and takes about 2 minutes to boot up. I'd love to upgrade the OS to XP but unfortunately there are no drivers available for XP and the on-line build image from the manufacturer doesn't download/compile correctly!
I have installed Microsoft Autoroute 2007 on it but it doesn't recognise the GPS so that's fairly useless at present!
The hard drive makes a rattling sound from every 10 mins or so that's slightly annoying.
Battery lasts about 1hr 30mins if that is any help
You can tell how disappointed I am by this product, it has so many promising features but fails on every one possibly due to the OS, possibly because of the processor. Either way I guess you get what you pay for. I'll give it 2 stars rather than 1 purely for the hope that if I can get the drivers for XP tablet edition then it may be useful!

Why? by jonny
It puzzles me still why manufactures still have a desire to put performance hogging OS like Vista on a netbook. If this had XP on it would be perfect. The fact it doesnt means its less than useful
Microsoft have ways to persuade manufacturers....
