Mammoth Cpu by Pc Pete
I have been using this CPU for some time and I have never felt the need to overclock this beauty. Running 4.7ghz 8core straight out of the box is simply brilliant, Yes this does need an aggressive cooling solution like corsair h100i or above and yes it does mount up on cost but to a true pc enthusiast or gamer the price shouldn't be an issue at all.... As in the words of Tim the Toolman Taylor MORRREEE POWERRRR.3 of 5 people rated this review as helpful
Question by Dooky1973
I have currently use a Corsair H75 Water cooling kit on my FX-8350 (overclocked to 4.6Ghz). Will the H75 be powerful enough to cool this chip, especially if I want to overclock it?
These chips run warmer than average, the H75 may not be enough to cool it if you wish to overclock. I would be looking at the H100.
Motherboard & cooling compatability by Gavin 2712
Hi would this work with the Asus Crosshair V formula z mobo and would it be able to utilise the processor full potential?
Also would the NZXt Kraken x61 all in one liquid cooling be adequate?
It is indeed compatible in relation to socket, unfortunately the board you have mentioned will not support the power requirements of the chip.
MSI 990FXA G65 ? by rmk
One of your replies says that this CPU will work with the MSI 990FXA Gd65 but the MSI compatibility chart does not show this CPU
There is some misinformation regarding these motherboards and chips. The official line is that they are unsupported due to the TDP but people have indeed installed these chips on the board. I would not recommend it just in case something does go wrong.
Apologies for the contradictory information.
