Description:

As hard drive capacities increase, the power required to run those drives increases as well. WD Caviar Green drives make it possible for energy-conscious customers to build systems with higher capacities and the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability, and energy conservation.

Massive capacity
WD leads the way; pioneering capacity to deliver a massive 1 TB of storage on a single drive.

Reduced power consumption
Reduced power consumption makes it possible to build systems with higher capacities and the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability, and energy conservation.

Cool and quiet.
WD GreenPower Technology yields lower operating temperatures for increased reliability and low acoustics perfect for ultra-quiet PCs and external drives.

Please Note: This is an OEM drive therefore no cables, screws or software are included.

Key Features

The world's largest capacity internal hard drive.
WD Caviar Green SATA drives now deliver up to a massive 3 TB's of storage on a single drive.

WD meets the technological challenges of implementing 3 TB SATA hard drives.
SATA hard drives are now capable of storing up to 3 TB of data on a single hard drive. WD is leading the way in the industry, providing you with solutions for implementing 2.19 TB and larger drives.

Perfect for external drives.
External drive manufacturers can eliminate the need for a fan in a high-capacity product by utilizing the cool and quiet operation of WD Caviar Green hard drives.

IntelliSeek.
Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration.

IntelliPower.
A fine-tuned balance of spin speed, transfer rate and caching algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance. Additionally, WD Caviar Green drives consume less current during startup allowing lower peak loads on systems as they are booted.

NoTouch ramp load technology.
The recording head never touches the disk media ensuring significantly less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive protection in transit.

Ideal for:
PCs, external storage and other devices that require lower power consumption and cool, quiet operation.

Question  sata cable by bones

hi does this come with a sata cable or do you have to buy one for it

Answer by andrewn on Tuesday, February 7, 2012
Usually SATA cables are not included with HDDs, so you will probably need to get one seperately. Typically spares are provided with the motherboard, though if you have a pre-built 'OEM' system such as a dell they may not have been provided.

Question  Question by Flynn

Is 6GB/s the transfer rate?

Answer by daniele on Thursday, November 10, 2011
On computers with SATA III interfaces, 6Gb/s is the maximum bandwidth

Question  SATA to IDE MB by Joolz

Would this HDD work on an Asus P4P800-MX mobo using a SATA to IDE Bi-directional converter (Quick code 36067)? Would I ned any additional leads?

Answer by daniele on Saturday, September 17, 2011
Yes. You would need a SATA data cable (like 41415) and a SATA power cable which would usually be on your PSU. If you do not have SATA power on your PSU, you can use a 4-pin Molex to SATA adapter (7683)
