Download the latest beta drivers from nvidia - these fixed the fan issue on a friends PC. Alternatively look at buying a decent after market cooler?
This driver version is available for XP and Vista, both x86 and x64 editions.
9800GTX Now Working by Joe
Hi, i bought my 9800gtx a few days ago, and im afraid to say, i had a few problemas with it, that by the looks of forums and stuff others have had the same problem, on COD4 and Half life 2, graphical games, I could only play them for a while then it crashed. So i sat down and figured out the problem, there didnt seem to be any program telling the graphics card fan to speed up under load, so i downloaded RivaTuner, and checked my GPU temp, on games it went to 70 eaven 80 Deg C, so i turned the fan speed up manually on RivaTuner to 80%, since then, i have had NO problems with it, Running 80FPS on medium on crysis (DX9) and i looked down at one point on wow, and saw the nice side of 500fps :) Absoloutly excellent card once the fan speed is up. But i wonder, does anyone know, why doesent the speed go up? I tried vista, then XP, and it still wouldent go up automatically. Dont hesitate to buy one if your upgrading they are brilliant.
