Overclocking beast by nabi
Oh my, This is an overclocking beast. I overclocked
it to _ GPU-850 and memory-1100(x4=4400) with a fan
speed of 45% i have heard it can be overclocked more
than that, but i keep it on gpu-790 and memory-1000
and it plays all my games without any problem.
I am thinking if on 45% the fan speed is more than 3000rpm
what speed the fan is capable of, never try to run it 100%
or nobody knows what would happen :-)
Clear SKy - Superb! by Gavin
Being an avid fan of the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." games, I have just bought "S.TA.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky".
I have also bought and installed my new Sapphire HD4870 512MB card.
In "CLear Sky" with every detail setting on full, I am averaging around 40fps (max 65fps, min 30fps). This is smooth and playable.
to compare: I was previously using a BFG 8800GTS OC 512 (which has been a brilliant card) and getting an average of 18fps (min 12, max 25).
"Clear Sky" ran perfectly on my 8800GTS 512, albeit with some settings backed down a little - acheiving avg 35 - 45 fps.
90% of games ran superb on my 8800GTS 512, but for STALKER - Clear Sky to run on max settings, the HD4870 fits the bill.
(TIP: Instal RIVATUNER 2.10 and ATI drivers 8.8, and set up custom fan profiles (see web) for a quiter and cooler 4870!)
Driver fix by lee
If your gona buy this card p8.8 drivers have a power play error that reports the GFX clock speeds wrong u need to manualy change them so the product dosnt crash during game play
u need to unlock your card in the overdrive settings and make a profile
Then u need to goto for Win XP c:/documents and setting/your name/local settings/application data/ati/ace/profiles
make sure u have view hinden folds ticked
Edit the XML document with the below settings
This should cure the crash problem failing that upgrade your PSU
THIS IS NOT AN OVERCLOCK SETTING
But a simple fix to trick the driver into thinking the GPU is a 750mb clock rather than a 500mb
Feature name="CoreClockTarget_0"
Property name="Want_0" value="50000"
Property name="Want_1" value="50000"
Property name="Want_2" value="75000"
