Question  Question by Microdragons

Hi, I have a K8N Neo platinum motherboard. Will my motherboard support this graphics card. I am unable to play the latest FIFA 09 / PES games due to an outdated graphics card. Will the nVidia GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR be a better alternative as its much cheaper. Many thanks.

As long as your board has an 8xAGP graphics port and you have a decent power supply then you will be fine.

Question  PSU input? by Shed

Hi, does this graphics card require its own induvidual power supply imput...or can it just get the power through the slots?

Best of the a.g.p cards by brianthesnail

Allthough agp cards have largely been replaced by the pci-express interface some pc users like myself still have the trusty agp x8 slot and this is the best agp card avalible from nvidia
this is mainly because nvidia have not released any direct x 10 cards ,so for gamers with just a agp slot this is a worthwhile investment
spec wise its not too bad,it has a 450mhz core clock and 256mb of gddr3 memory running at 1320mhz,along with the 256bit memory interface this equates to a decent 42.3gb/sec memory bandwidth, which is not too bad for a agp card, infact its not too bad full stop
other specs include 20 pixel pipelines and a support for shader model 3.0
installing the card is a breeze, and the bar across the side of the card is handy as it means you dont have to touch the pcb(printed circuit board) which can damage the card
i have bought this card as my last agp card before i buy another pc with pc-express interface and more modern hardware
as for performance i can run fear on high settings at 115max fps, doom 3 on ultra detail,4 x aa and 1280x1024 at 88fps
and need for speed carbon on high detail(1440x900) at 76fps
for all round gaming performance i ran both 3d-mark 03 and 05 ,heres the results for both benchmarks run with my previous geforce 7600gt and the geforce 7900gs
3dmark 03 : 9419 (geforce 7600gt)
14,917(geforce 7900gs)
3dmark 05 : 4344 (geforce 7600gt)
6332 (geforce 7900gs)
i also ran it using 3dmark 01 aswell knocking up a impressive 21,887 marks
as for powering this card i opted for the hiper 425watt psu from aria, this is a excellent power supply with ample power to run this card,it has 2 x 17a with a max 25a on the 12vdc rail, the wires are braided and the unit is pretty quiet
so i would highly recommend the nVIDIA GeForce 7900GS 256MB AGP 8x ,for less than £60 this has lots of punch and can keep up with many of the 8500gt/8600gt pci-e cards
excellent card...well done aria
