My Personal Experience by Andrew Barnes

I bought one of these + 500GB HDD(£50) = Total £80ish

- I connected the new drive as USB
- I downloaded a util from the HDD Manufacturers site.
- I formatted the drive as FAT32 then copied all my movies through USB.
- I put it on the lan and typed Storage in my browser
- from there it was easy to rename the server and add shares.
- I can copy files up via FTP but I just plug it back in as a usb as it's quicker.

Absolutly no problems with this caddy and now I know that it works I will get more for my family members.

Oh yeah! light is really bright and power pack gets really hot.

 Question by JohnS

Will this work with linux (can it be formatted with FAT32), and is there a limit on the drive size it can take?

Answer by jonathanw on Tuesday, June 24, 2008
It should do. As with most nas boxes the drive has to be formatted with FAT32. However in my experience it is necessary to create a small partition through Windows, then let the caddy do the rest.

USB & LAN at same time by Andrew

Hi,

Can the HDD be accessed via the USB and Ethernet at the same time?

Answer by jonathanw on Monday, June 9, 2008
Unlikely, I've never seen a network drive box that will allow that.

 Downloading by Martin

Hi there,

Can you download music/videos straight to this unit?

So if I was to start a download from the Internet and turn my laptop off, will it continue saving to this unit?

Thanks
