Description:
New power, new speed. Quad-core from Intel. - Latest 45nm TechnologyLeaders of the pack seeking monster performance, look no further. With four execution cores, the Intel® Core™2 Quad processor blows through processor-intensive tasks in demanding multitasking environments and makes the most of highly threaded applications. Whether you're creating multimedia, annihilating your gaming enemies, or running compute-intensive applications at one time, new quad-core processing will change the way you do everything. Pioneer the new world of quad-core and unleash the power of multithreading
The Intel® Core™2 Quad processor is the latest in cutting edge processor technology. Based on the new Intel® Core™ microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Quad processor delivers four complete execution cores within a single processor, delivering unprecedented performance and responsiveness in multithreaded and multitasking business and home-use environments.
The Intel Core 2 Quad processor features four complete execution cores. More instructions can be carried out per clock cycle, shorter and wider pipelines execute commands more quickly, and improved bus lanes move data throughout the system faster.
The evolving set of threaded multimedia applications, including digital content creation, shines as users are able to complete tasks faster. Game play can achieve even greater visualization and realism as tasks such as artificial intelligence (AI), physics, and rendering can be distributed across each of the four complete execution cores and run in parallel.

I tried this processor on asrock 4core 1333 viiv Mobo bought from aria.co.uk. At that time they stated that this processor is supported by above mentioned mobo and i bought it. But later i realised that above mentioned mobo works in 1333 MHZ in oveclocking mode only and maximum i can set is 311 MHZ CPU FSB instead of its default 333 MHZ. I even updated my bios to latest version. So right now i am running at 2.3 Ghz instead of default 2.5 GHZ. Is it my motherboard faulty or asrock 4core 1333 VIIV doesn't support this processor? Hi I ordered this CPU for a computer I was building, and it has forked flawlessly ever since. I'd recommend it to anyone who's motherboard can use it and has the cash for it (its definitely worth it.) Hi. Im running a foxconn 661fx7mj mobo, and it says i can run core series processor, but does that mean it can run this quad processor on my mobo? i prefer not to update my mobo because i dont have the money everyone else does. besides i just bought a 3850hd agp from here the other week anyhow. We stock 3 board with this description so cannot assist you at this time. i would recommend taking the exact model number down, and checking the cpu compatibility on asrocks website.
Asus P5N-E-SLI by saul
will this suit an asus p5n-e-sli board?
thanks
Im afraid it wouldnt appear so, its not on asus's support list and ive not heard of Nvidia 6 series supporting quad cores.
Fantastic CPU! by Matthew
You may require a BIOS update to some motherboards though.
The delivery was brilliant also, arrived the next day.
A+++!
Does it work? by Xaggan
I wouldn't expect this moherboard to support quad cores

http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=Striker%20Extreme doesn't list it - so I'd have to say no...
